Revolutionising aeroplane design
In 1954, the Pilot ACE computer was used to analyse jet fuselage wreckage salvaged from the Mediterranean Sea after a Comet jet exploded in mid-air. The research done using the Pilot ACE eventually led to the metal fatigue problems being solved and aeroplane design being changed forever.
