New 100G Ethernet core chassis fabric switch, SDN and multitenancy enhancements help fill out Brocade networking arsenal

Brocade’s newest network gear is intended to support cloud environments with thousands of virtual machines running within and between data centers. The offerings will undoubtedly heat up the fabric switching competition between Brocade and Cisco, HP and Juniper.

Optimised for 100G Ethernet
The new VDX 8770 core chassis switch is optimised for dense 100G Ethernet. It features 4Tbps per slot, 3.5 microsecond port-to-port latency, 384,000 MAC addresses and VMs, VXLAN and NVGRE tunneling for network virtualization overlays, and three multipath trunking techniques. Pictured is the eight-slot version, which could theoretically support over 300 100G Ethernet ports.
