First Look: Brocade’s new data centre switches & routers
New 100G Ethernet core chassis fabric switch, SDN and multitenancy enhancements help fill out Brocade networking arsenal

Brocade’s newest network gear is intended to support cloud environments with thousands of virtual machines running within and between data centers. The offerings will undoubtedly heat up the fabric switching competition between Brocade and Cisco, HP and Juniper.

The VDX 8770
The four-slot configuration of the VDX 8770 could conceivably house up to 160 100G Ethernet ports, 1,600 10G and 400 40G ports. But at first customer ship, the switch will support 48-port Gigabit and 10G Ethernet modules, and 12-port 40G line cards.
